In January of 1997, John Gavrilis was approached by Altera Corporation, to publish a fine art book of his photographs to give to their worldwide corporate clients as a Christmas gift. All aspects of the book, including printing, were created in the Silicon Valley. Quality control was a top priority.

     The deluxe hard bound linen-wrapped "Rhythm of the Land" was released in December of 1997. There will only be one printing of the book, and it is not sold in bookstores.   Due to the cost of printing such a high quality book, the size of the edition was quite small. Each of the 1000 copies was signed and numbered by the artist. (The first 250 copies were sold prior to the book's release.)
